Sinopse: O episódio piloto foi gravado no final de 1.963, logo após o assassinato de John Kennedy. Embora o clima fosse de tristeza pelo acontecimento, os trabalhos se desenvolveram naturalmente. O episódio mostra como Samantha e Darrin se conheceram, o casamento e a revelação feita à Darrin de que acabara de se casar com uma feiticeira. Embora o piloto tenha agradado aos executivos de produção da ABC, não estava muito fácil vender o programa, já que determinadas pessoas temiam levar ao ar uma série que só tratava de feitiçarias e bruxarias. Foi quando os executivos da Quaker e da Chevrolet visitaram os estúdios e decidiram patrocinar o projeto.
A série estreou nos Estados Unidos em 17/09/64. A identificação com o público foi instantânea. Em pouco tempo A Feiticeira estava em segundo lugar na audiência, com uma média de 31 pontos, só perdendo para Bonanza.
